Load control rules
For load control, exercises are best performed without taking painkillers beforehand. After surgery, it is important to assess how you feel for a few days without pain medication so you can better understand your true pain level and avoid exceeding a safe load. If marked pain or deterioration appears during training, stop the session and contact a specialist.
- If an exercise was already part of your routine but pain appeared after increasing intensity, take one step back and return to the previous load level. It means it is too early to increase the load.
- If a new exercise causes pain immediately, stop this exercise completely and try returning to it later.
Daily practice within tolerance is important for success. Interim follow-up with a rehabilitation specialist helps assess the program effectiveness, adjust the load, and notice overload signs in time.
